HOW DO I DO THAT?
You can offer a performance contribution on the spur of the moment on the night, but our programme is usually full and priority for slots will go to those who book in advance – which you can do in just a few minutes using our easy online form (see below).
Storylands Sessions is essentially a community variety concert that’s open to all, so we welcome:
Our Shows are built around a theme for the night, so check the Eventbrite information for the theme this month. We include prompts to spark lots of ideas and we always enjoy the many ways people respond to these. And we’re not strict about it, so feel free to go with your own flow.
Anything (loosely) on theme will do, UP TO FIVE MINUTES. (We welcome very broad interpretation of theme, but not of time…)
Performers can have a free ticket. Please fill out the form FIRST to find out if there’s space in the programme. We’ll reply with all the info you need to have a great time at the Sessions, but if there isn’t space for the upcoming show, we’ll invite you back to perform at a future one.
SO, if you want to share, please fill out this simple and self-explanatory online form:
Or if you or the form are feeling too complicated, just email us:
WHAT SHALL I PERFORM, I WONDER?
Seeing other people perform will help give you the confidence to share your own party-piece at Storylands. This is a great context to gain a little performance experience in a friendly, welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
We have had everything from seasoned professional singers, fiddlers, poets and storytellers; to people that have only just started playing their instrument again after many years, to rookie storytellers (Hamish for one!) and people reciting their own poetry for the very first time in public. Our first-timers range from small children to long-in-the-tooth seniors.
It’s up to you. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something true?
Remember to use the events’ monthly theme to inspire you (but don’t let it restrict you). See the Eventbrite booking page for the forthcoming event.
And remember, it’s a maximum of 5 minutes per performer, including your chat at the start. (We have a shepherd’s crook…)
The evening will be threaded together by your co-hosts, Aila and Hamish, with tales and tunes.
