This month’s workshop is with maverick fiddle player and composer Adam Sutherland: kind, inspiring and fascinating.
Please note we have MOVED (this event normally takes place at the Duke of Gordon Hotel, Kingussie) to Kincraig Church Hall opposite the war memorial up the brae in Kincraig.
Workshop: 7pm-8pm. Short Interview & Workshop with Adam Sutherland booking for the workshop is required. £5. Tickets here.
Session: 8:15-10pm-ish. For the session afterwards you can just turn up without booking (it’s a free event).
We’ll have cups of tea and coffee, juice and biscuits available. I’m promising Jammy Dodgers. But if your feeling generous also BYOB as well (bring your own biscuits)!
This is the last of our 6 Trad Table Tune folk session events in Badenoch – but we will be back in April with more events. Please help us with our funding bid by filling out our feedback forms – it really helps!
Adam Sutherland
This month we invite special guest Adam Sutherland who hails from just over the Monadhliath hills from Badenoch – the wee hamlet of Errogie on the south shores of Loch Ness. He is one of Scotland’s most exciting fiddle players, composers and teachers in a thriving scene, drenched with talent.
Outfits that Adam has been a part of include Nae Plans (duo with Hamish Napier), The Treacherous Orchestra, Session A9, Peatbog Faeries, Babelfish and Croft no. Five. He has also played with a host of other well known acts including Salsa Celtica and Manran.
Adam’s tunes are perhaps his most impressive legacy and are played in music sessions and on youtube videos in the following countries: Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Norway, USA, Canada (Canadian Celtic Music Top-Ten with Flook’s version of ‘The Road to Errogie’), Korea, Australia, New Zealand and who knows where else.
The event wil be hosted by Hamish Napier, a traditional musician and composer from Grantown-on-Spey who recently wrote and recorded local stories for the new ‘Badenoch The Storylands’ app. A very experienced traditional music teacher, Hamish has taught at numerous communtiy music projects throughout Scotland including Feis Spe and Feis Rois, and was a tutor in ensemble work, composition, flute and piano at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for many years. He has delivered music workshops at music festivals and summer camps in Europe, Canada and the USA.
Any questions or queries please feel free to email Hamish at: hamishnapier@mac.com
