More About the Storylands Sessions Project

The Storylands Sessions is a project of Badenoch Heritage fostering music, singing, storytelling and poetry in the strath. Hamish and Merryn have hosted table tunes and open mic nights along with a popular series of music and storytelling workshops featuring special guests as well as local talent.

Hamish Napier is an award-winning folk musician, composer and tutor who gathered and recorded all the stories for the new Badenoch The Storylands app. His album, The Woods, which won Album of the Year at the Scot Trad Awards in 2020, is going on tour in March. His final Table Tunes event will be at the Duke of Gordon Hotel on Tuesday 22nd with ace fiddle player, Adam Sutherland. Author and storyteller, Merryn Glover, was writer in residence for the Cairngorms National Park in 2019 and her strath-set novel, Of Stone and Sky, won Book of the Year at the Bookmark Festival in 2021 and is long-listed for the Highland Book Prize. The Storylands Sessions were funded initially by the Cairngorms Green Recovery Fund and the Badenoch Great Place Project, but are seeking further funding to run future Seasons.
