We are delighted to be back in person at Loch Insh Boathouse on Tuesday February 15th for the LAST Storylands Sessions Storytelling Workshop and Open Mic event of Season 1. (Watch this space for Season 2…)
NEW VENUE: We will be meeting in the Ptarmigan Dome in the Loch Insh carpark not in the restaurant.
This will be a practical, playful, fun workshop exploring different ways to create and tell stories using voice, body and objects.
The workshop will be led by Nick Fearne.
Nick (below) was a teacher before running away to Cumbernauld Theatre where he wrote and directed for the youth theatre and Cumbernauld Theatre Company. A freelance period followed before working as Arts Development Officer with three local authorities, as director of the Aberdeen Alternative Festival and General Manager of planB Dance. Currently a freelance arts creative, writer and director, he teaches drama for TFX in Inverness, is organiser of Dingwall’s Word on the Street and writes and directs for Dingwall Players, including two Fringe productions.

The workshop lasts from 7 to 8pm and costs £5. Booking is essential through Eventbrite here. Everyone aged 16+ is welcome, whether you have attended previous workshops or not.
Open Mic
The workshop is followed at 8.30 by a free Open Mic session for sharing stories, poetry and music. (No need to have attended the workshop.)
As we are so close to Valentine’s Day, the theme of the Open Mic will, of course, be Love. You are welcome to interpret that as you wish…
We love work to be performed rather than read, but we encourage you to take part in whatever way you can. You are warmly supported to join in, but are equally free to simply listen and enjoy.
You can sign up on the night, but to guarantee a slot (and prevent Merryn from panicking about no performers) please email merryn@merrynglover.com
Both workshop and open mic are hosted by Badenoch author Merryn Glover with support and music from Hamish Napier.

Remember that Loch Insh Boathouse Restaurant serves delicious grub, so why not make a night of it by having dinner as well? Table service is up till 7pm, please book directly with them on 01540 651394 or email restaurant@lochinsh.co.uk
They also serve hot pies, chips, beans, soup, drinks and cakes through the evening, so you can tuck into some of that in the break between workshop and open mic, too!
The Loch Insh events are paired with a series of Table Tunes workshops and sessions, hosted by Hamish Napier and held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Duke of Gordon Hotel, Kingussie.
The next one is Tuesday 22nd February and will include special guest Adam Sutherland.
